It’s that time of year again. A new iPhone is here, guaranteeing a mad rush of Apple fanatics ordering their newest device - due in stores on September 20th but available for pre-order now.
Each new iPhone release comes with a hotly anticipated range of new and improved features, and the iPhone 11 doesn’t disappoint.
Let’s take a look at what you can expect from the mobile giant’s latest and greatest.
As always, Apple has released a range of iPhone 11 handsets that vary in size, capability and features. These are the iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro and iPhone 11 Pro Max.
The specifications of the new generation are:
iPhone 11: 6.1 inch display, 2x 12 megapixel camera sensors, 12MP front and rear cameras.
iPhone 11 Pro: 5.8 inch OLED display, 3x 12 megapixel cameras Super Retina XDR display.
iPhone 11 Max: 6.5 inch OLED display, 3x 12 megapixel cameras with 4x optical zoom, Super Retina XDR display.
So, what’s the same previous years ? The iPhone 11 is confirmed to run immediately on the all new iOS13, and it is almost identical in appearance to the previous iPhone XR.
Screen size is the same and resolution is the same, as is the included charger and Qi wireless charging capability. The battery on the iPhone 11 boasts an hour longer than the iPhone XR, while the Pro and Pro Max models allow 4 and 5 hours longer, respectively. .
Probably the most exciting new feature is the addition of a second camera sensor on the iPhone, with the second carefully designed for wide angle shots. But if you’re a photography buff, opt for the iPhone Pro or Pro Max models, as both have three camera sensors!
But Apple hasn’t stopped there. They’ve finally added water-resistance to its brand ability and claim that the new collection can withstand 30 minutes of submersion in 2 metres of water.
Another new feature is the A13 bionic chip, which the brand states will improve overall performance.
And for the eternal fashionistas, the iPhone 11 knocks it out of the park, boasting a range of dynamic new phone colours, including yellow, purple, green, white, black and red.
Listening to your favourite tunes will be the same as recent releases, with no headphone jack on the iPhone 11 models but the phones coming with EarPods and a Lightning connector.
For those that were looking forward to the iPhone 11 range possibly being 5G enabled, we have some bad news. None of the phones in year’s release support 5G connectivity.
As the successor of the iPhone X, only time will tell if the newest release will live up to expectations.
